Germany / Luxembourg 2005

827 Km in 3 days, crossing Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany.

We left from Rotterdam early in the morning. Although we initially planned to take this trip with a larger group of people, we drove off with one other couple on a Triumph Speed Triple. Armed with maps, GPS and a tent we headed for the German Eiffel.

No need to hurry, so we took quite some stops along to way to refuel man and machine. The country roads with it's nice curves were very tempting though, so in the end lost time was well made up for.
Being both rare and distinctive, the bikes drew quite some attention while passing by and even though the Elefant is about 40 Hp short of the Triumph, it certainly didn't fall back. Seeing most of the other bikes on the road being customs, it's quit a relieve to be on a bike that doesn't have to slow down 'till it almost stops before you can take a corner...

We arrived at the motorcamping early in the evening. From this point we would explore the surrounding roads.

Next morning the weather was less friendly. It was quite cold and rainy, so a campfire was burning already before most people had shown their face outside their tents. As by a miracle it kept burning through all the rain.

Because the couple we traveled with hadn't woken from their coma yet, we decided to take a walk. Unfortunately it turned out we might as well could have taken a cold shower. We would have been a little more wet, but at least our cloths wouldn't have been soaked. The views were nice though.

Luckily the sun came through in the afternoon. We made a little trip through the surroundings over some beautiful roads. It even took us a bit off-road on a gravel path though the woods, when we missed a turn.

Later in the evening there was a live-band on the camping, entertaining one part, and keeping up the other part of the campers 'till early in the morning.

Unfortunately we had to leave quite early again. We also had to attend somewhere else, so after a quick breakfast we packed our bags and headed home. It had rained all night and kept raining all day though, so by the time we got home we were completely soaked. Bad end of a nice weekend...
